A Winner and Pie!

Coconut Dream pie and a winner. Up and at it this fine Saturday morning. Getting things done here before the heat index rises to another hot one, 95 today, 100 tomorrow!
I've already put Cleo to work this morning, she chose a name for the cute Annie pillow drawing... that would be you Debbie (WoolenSails)! Please email your address Debbie so that we can send your
little pillow off to you!

Last weekend I made this wonderful dessert for Fathers Day and have been meaning to post the recipe.
Hubby says it was my best ever dessert and I have to admit it was really very delicious!

COCONUT DREAM PIE

Crust: 1 Cup Flour, 1/2 Cup softened butter, 2 Tbs Sugar, 1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans
Mix and pat into bottom of deep dish pie plate, bake 350 degrees 15-20 minutes.
2nd Layer: 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened, 1 Cup Powdered Sugar,
1 Cup Cool Whip from 8 ounce container.
Beat together cream cheese and sugar, fold in topping. Spread on top of cooled crust.
3rd Layer: 1 small pkg Coconut Cream Instant Pudding, 1-1/2 Cup Whole Milk
Mix until thickened. Spread over cream cheese mixture.
Top with remaining Cool Whip.
Toast 1 Cup Coconut, sprinkle on top. Refrigerate and enjoy!

Next I am heading up stairs to choose wool felt colors for my next project. There will be some felting in store for the afternoon, then the fun part begins, cutting my shapes out and sewing!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday Cleo!!

OMG... it's Cleo's Birthday week! How can my fur child be twelve already!
Like some people I know, I won't mention names, Cleo likes to celebrate her special day all week long.
Today she had tuna for lunch, now that is a real treat as she is on a special dry food diet. You should of heard her come galloping down the stairs when she heard the can opener lol. Now I have to top that tomorrow... such pressure!

In honor of Cleos Birthday I am giving away an "Annie" pillow stitched with love by me. Annie is stitched from the October stitchery and very cute indeed. My cute dollies are not included, they are just waving hi! If you would like a chance to win this sweet pillow leave a comment. Cleo will draw a name on Saturday after she has her cake!

I hope you are staying nice and cool where ever you are. It is 95 degrees here in Kansas, I suppose summer is here to stay! Enjoy your week!

Bye Bye Florida!

Hello... I'm back! Catching up on all those things that pile up while you are away. Hubby, our son Jon and I flew to Florida last week to visit Grandpa, my father in law. Grandpa is 90 years old, hard to believe that isn't it! He sure has been blessed with incredibly great genes.

You can tell your'e in Florida when you see lots of these.

And the coconut people :)

Mid week the 3 of us drove south to Saddlebrook Golf Resort to meet my sister who retired in Florida
recently. Saddlebrook was a nice half way spot just north of Tampa for us to spend a little time and catch up. Love it here! The view outside our suite, so lush with tropical vegetation.

Don't see much of this in the midwest.

Dozens of Egrets were nested in the trees.

Hubby and I, Sissy and her hubby. The boys golfed and we girls pool sided it.
The mens US soccer team was staying here also... hubba hubba hubba!

Me and our son Jon.

We had a nice visit, caught up all all there was to catch up on for awhile. Played cards at night, lots of laughs, a wonderful buffet breakfast before heading back to Grandpas for the duration of our stay.
The only disappointment during our week was the weather. It rained 4 days.. and I mean poured! So
much for returning with a nice tan! I did however finish a stitchery, and the books I had on my nook. The boys played shuffleboard, pool and bowled. Dinners out and more cards at night, we kept busy.
And now I am happy and content to be home, I truly think that is what a good vacation gives you, happiness to continue on with your daily routine.
